Howe sends warning over Cardiff's Arter hopes

30th November 2018, 12:22 by Simon Barlow

Cherries boss Eddie Howe has refused to comment on Harry Arter's desire to join Cardiff permanently - but says he values him "greatly".

The Republic of Ireland international revealed earlier in the week that he is desperate to make his season-long loan move from Bournemouth to Cardiff permanent - if the Welsh club retain their Premier League status.

Arter has been a regular fixture in Neil Warnock's side but Howe is staying tight-lipped on whether or not there is a likelihood of that deal happening next summer.

"It’s a very difficult one to comment on from my perspective," Howe told reporters on Friday. "Harry is with Cardiff for the season, he no doubt feels a Cardiff player and he’s had to ingrain himself for what they doing for this season - both physically and mentally."

Back in August, Howe admitted he had taken the decision to allow Arter to go on loan "reluctantly" because the 28-year-old was determined to play first-team football.

"We value him greatly from our side, let's see what happens at the end of the season," he added.
