In-demand striker won't be heading to Pompey
Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett has ruled his League One leaders out of the race to sign Bournemouth striker Sam Surridge on loan.
The 20-year-old has become one of the most sought-after strikers at League One level after being recalled from his loan spell at League Two Oldham days after helping the Latics knock Premier League Fulham out of the FA Cup.
Surridge netted 12 goals in 20 appearances for the Latics and was named League Two player of the month for September.
And while Oxford boss Karl Robinson has confirmed he is as an admirer of the player after watching him on Sunday, Pompey boss Jackett is happy to quash any rumours.
“We are not in for Sam Surridge,” he said on Thursday.
Surridge signed a new contract with Cherries last month that ties him to the club until 2021.
