McCarthy linked with Cherries loan
Everton's James McCarthy is reportedly a target for Bournemouth as they seek to improve their options in midfield.
Cherries boss Eddie Howe lost Lewis Cook to a serious knee injury towards the end of last year and the south coast club have struggled in the absence of the England international.
Reports now claim that Howe could look to make his third signing of the January transfer window by sealing a deal for McCarthy, having already brought in Dominic Solanke and Nathaniel Clyne.
The Republic of Ireland international has recently returned to action after breaking his leg 12 months ago but has yet to force his way back into Marco Silva's first-team plans.
The 28-year-old, who has 18 months left on his contract at Goodison Park, has featured for Everton's Under-23s and appears ready to be thrown straight into the action if called upon.
Bournemouth are not the only club looking at McCarthy with Aston Villa, Fulham and West Brom all understood to be keen.
