Travers eager to kick on at Vitality

16th July 2019, 13:54 by Bobbie Jackson

Goalkeeper Mark Travers is excited for the future with Bournemouth after committing to a new "long-term" contract.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international will hope to stake a claim for the number one jersey next season after impressing in the latter stages of 2018-19.

He was handed his first Premier League start against Tottenham and made full use of the opportunity, keeping a clean sheet and claiming the man-of-the-match award.

Travers has subsequently been rewarded with new terms and feels he can now focus on his football.

"I'm delighted to sign a new contract," Travers told afcbTV.

"On a personal note, it was a great end to last season and to now get this deal sorted, it will really help me push on and into the new season.

"As soon as the offer was there I was really keen to sign and commit my future to the club.

"The manager and backroom staff have been brilliant with me. I've developed as both a person and player during my time with the club and I'm excited for what the future holds."
