Villa leading chase for Cherries star
Aston Villa are thought to be stepping up their efforts to bring in Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings this month.
Cherries manager Eddie Howe will allow Mings to leave in the January window as the 25-year-old has only made two starts for the south coast outfit this season and does not appear to fit into his plans going forward.
The capture of Chris Mepham from Brentford this week has only pushed Mings further down Howe's pecking order and his future appears to lie away from the Vitality Stadium.
West Brom have been connected with a move for Mings but the latest reports suggest Villa could have stolen a march on the Baggies and made an approach for the former Ipswich Town man.
Villa are not guaranteed to land Mings but they do appear to have made the first move, ahead of the like of West Brom, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.
