Albion without Gross for Terriers test

1st March 2019, 14:09 by Gareth Freeman

Brighton will be without midfielder Pascal Gross for Saturday's visit of Huddersfield due to a hamstring problem.

Gross sustained the injury in the midweek loss to Leicester and has been ruled out of this weekend's game, although it is not a serious problem and he is expected to be available for the trip to Crystal Palace on March 9.

Defender Leon Balogun remains sidelined with a shoulder injury but forward Florin Andone is back in contention after serving a suspension.

Manager Chris Hughton accepts Albion are in the middle of a "difficult period", as they go into Saturday's game winless in seven Premier League games and just two points clear of the bottom three, but he is convinced they can rediscover their form and pull clear of danger.

"I have to be concerned because the league table speaks for itself and the form as regards points speaks for itself," said Hughton.

"It's a difficult period for us but it's a time where you need to hold your nerve."

He added: "I would be certainly more concerned if we weren't creating chances, weren't in the game, our level of performance was poor.

"It's a difficult period that we are going through and we accept that.

"We also know the only way to get out of that is by getting results."
