Brighton starlet boosted by loan spell

11th July 2019, 15:01 by Gareth Freeman

Brighton's Anders Dreyer says his time on loan at St Mirren last season helped him develop his defensive side of the game.

The Danish winger joined St Mirren on loan in the January transfer window and managed one goal in 11 appearances before his time in Scotland was cut short by a knee injury in April.

The 21-year-old, who represented Denmark at the European Under-21 Championships last month, is now back with Brighton's Under-23s but his comments on his spell with the Buddies suggest he may be open to another temporary exit.

"The loan at St Mirren was a great experience for me, it was a tough league and I played a good amount of games," he told the Brighton website. "We survived in the league, which was the main thing.

"The defensive part of my game has improved. It was important to be powerful because we weren't a top team in the Scottish league and we had to defend very well.

"It's always been an area of my game that I've wanted to improve, so it was a good decision for me to play in Scotland and experience that."
