Howe expects Brighton to survive

13th January 2018, 15:01 by Bobbie Jackson

Brighton have enough quality to avoid an immediate return to the Championship, according to Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe.

The Seagulls won promotion to the top flight after securing a second-place finish in the Championship last term and they have held their own in the Premier League.

Brighton currently sit 12th, three points above the bottom three, following their recent 2-2 draw with the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium.

Howe believes he saw enough quality from their rivals on the day to suggest that they won’t be dropping back down a division at the end of May.

"I think they (Albion) have done very well," Howe said. "I think Chris has managed the club very well.

"They have done well in the transfer market.

"They look strong, they are picking up points. That is not always easy to do in the Premier League. Where ever they go they are competitive. I think they will be fine."
