Hughton issues first-team warning to Locadia
Jurgen Locadia may face a fight to get back into Brighton's starting XI after missing the Huddersfield win, according to Chris Hughton.
The 25-year-old Dutch forward, who joined in a £15million switch from PSV Eindhoven in January 2018, has scored three goals in 26 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
However, his run of 16 successive league outings came to an end at the weekend when Hughton left him out of the squad to face the Terriers as Florin Andone came in to score the winning goal on his return from suspension.
The Seagulls boss also ended winger Solly March's ever-present run in the league by starting him on the bench as Jose Izquierdo came on as a late substitute.
Hughton was left to reflect on a welcome dilemma he has regarding which forwards he will start, but it appears Locadia is unlikely to walk back into the line-up without a battle.
Hughton told The Argus: "I was always going to put Jose on the bench and Florin. Probably the decision I had to make was Solly or Jurgen.
"It was a close call. Between the two of them you are trying to anticipate how a game might go.
"There will be certain circumstances where we could do with Jurgen on the bench and certainly with Solly.
"But it was a very close call and he (Locadia) has been in and around it and played a lot of games."
