Seagulls face Diame competition
Brighton are believed to be one of the clubs this summer that will look to land Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame.
The 31-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season, but, if the player makes a further three Premier League appearances, he will automatically trigger a 12-month extension at St James' Park.
Diame says he is happy at Newcastle and would prefer a new two-year deal with the Magpies but the club's current reluctance could see the Senegal international decide to move on to pastures new, with the Seagulls lurking.
“They know I want to stay,” he said last week. “I am happy at Newcastle.
“It was tough at the beginning but I settled down. But if I have to go, then I will go, it is no problem.”
Brighton would face stern competition for Diame's services, with the likes of Crystal Palace, Besiktas and Galatasaray thought to be monitoring his situation in the north east.
