Seagulls need to improve in final third - Hughton

11th February 2019, 12:24 by Craig Smithson

Brighton must "be better in front of goal" if they are to end their current six-game winless league run, according to Chris Hughton.

The Seagulls boss watched as a brace from Chris Wood and a penalty from former Brighton striker Ashley Barnes gave visitors Burnley a 3-1 win at the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening.

Shane Duffy's header 14 minutes from time was a consolation as the hosts are still looking for a first win of the year and are now level on points with the Clarets, just three clear of the Premier League's relegation places.

Hughton has pinpointed their poor form in front of goal as the reason behind the disappointing run, but he played down talk of a crisis of confidence.

"I think we need to be better in front of goal. We need to be scoring more goals," he said.

"You leave yourselves vulnerable if you are not able to score.

"As regards a lack of confidence, I can't say that because that hasn't been the case."
