Stephens urges Brighton to strive for 40 points
Brighton midfielder Dale Stephens admits his side need to hit the 40-point mark in the Premier League as soon as possible.
The Seagulls are 15th after picking up 27 points from their first 26 matches this season. However, Chris Hughton's side have not won any of their last six top-flight matches and some fans are starting to worry about the threat of relegation.
Brighton are three points clear of the drop zone and Stephens insists the 40-point barrier is their main target.
He told the Brighton and Hove Independent: "It always has been. The quicker we get to that, the goal posts might move, but initially and still the target is 40 points.
“We don’t feel like we’re a million miles away but at the end of the day it’s all about points.
"If you look at the performances individually, especially the Watford game here, I think we should have won that game. Parts of other games as well, I think we could have been 3-0 up at home to Burnley before they scored their first goal."
