Barnes refusing to rest on laurels
Burnley's Ashley Barnes is determined to score more goals after reaching double figures for the season against Bournemouth on Saturday.
It is the first time that Barnes has netted 10 goals or more in a Premier League season and his recent form has been particularly impressive, as eight of his strikes have come in his last 16 top-flight appearances.
The 29-year-old has also established himself as Burnley's all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League, but he is not resting on his laurels and hopes to add to his tally before the end of the season.
"I managed to keep going and it's a good achievement to get to 10 goals," Barnes told the Burnley website. "But this doesn't stop now. We still have games to go and I need to get as many goals as possible."
Barnes also feels Burnley still have work to do to guarantee top-flight survival despite the fact they have pulled eight points clear of the relegation zone following back-to-back wins over Wolves and Bournemouth.
The Clarets welcome third from bottom Cardiff to Turf Moor on Saturday in what could be a potentially season-defining game.
"We're nowhere near done yet. We need to keep fighting," he added. "We've got a massive game next week against Cardiff and we'll get ready for that."
