Burnley set Heaton price

17th July 2019, 12:48 by Jack Ogalbe

Burnley have reportedly told Aston Villa that they will need to pay £12million if they want to sign Tom Heaton.

The Clarets have an embarrassment of riches between the posts, with Heaton, Joe Hart and Nick Pope all England internationals.

Both Heaton and Hart made 19 appearances each in the Premier League last term but Sean Dyche now has a selection dilemma, with Pope back in the fold following injury.

The younger of the trio perhaps represents the best long-term option for Dyche and for the right money, the coach could be tempted into parting with his club captain.

Premier League new boys Villa have been splashing the cash to help boost their survival hopes and a new goalkeeper is high on Dean Smith's list of priorities.

The Villans are believed to have made an initial bid of £4m but have been sent packing, with Burnley instead requesting £12m for the three-cap England man.
