Defender set for Burnley return

17th April 2019, 15:44 by Nick Harris

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has revealed full-back Phil Bardsley could be back in the side for Monday's clash with Chelsea.

Bardsley has missed the last two games against Bournemouth and Cardiff with a cut leg picked up playing head tennis at the Barnfield Training Centre.

Dyche says he should be ready for the clash with Chelsea as he was almost fit to play against Cardiff last time out, and the extra few days over the weekend should see him return.

"I think Phil will be right this week," said Dyche. "He was touch and go for Cardiff. We've been down since Christmas, virtually all season really, to 16 or 17 players, so you're always wanting them back fit.

"But you can't push them, if they break down again, you're down to 14 or 15. It's been a tough season in that sense, without a doubt."
