Heaton retains focus in survival fight

12th February 2019, 15:23 by Gareth Freeman

Tom Heaton says Burnley are well aware there is still "a long way to go" as they continue to battle to avoid Premier League relegation.

The Clarets claimed a 3-1 win at Brighton on Saturday and are unbeaten in seven in the Premier League.

Burnley now sit 15th in the table - three points clear of the drop zone - and Heaton says they will not allow any complacency to creep in as they look to avoid relegation.

"Unbeaten in seven games in the Premier League is a fantastic feat," Heaton told Clarets Player HD.

"Four wins in there and three draws and, arguably, could have been a couple more wins. It's a great marker for how we are going about it at the minute.

"It might not be that straightforward all the way through - and that’s an important message.

"We’ve got to keep taking on the challenge and keep embracing it, which we are doing at the minute.

"There's still a long way to go and it's still tight down there. I'm conscious of not looking too much at the table and just focusing on what we are doing.

"We are doing the right things and it’s important we take that into each and every game."

Burnley are next in action on February 23 when they host Tottenham.
