'Happy' Hoilett hails 'great' Warnock

11th March 2019, 11:08 by Craig Smithson

Junior Hoilett said talk of a divided Cardiff squad is "nonsense", while he is "happy" to play under "a great manager" in Neil Warnock.

The 28-year-old Canada international forward was Warnock's first signing at the Cardiff City Stadium when he joined on a free transfer in October 2016 after his contract with QPR had expired.

Hoilett has scored three goals in 23 Premier League outings, with one of those coming in Saturday's vital 2-0 home win against West Ham, while he provided an assist for Victor Camarasa's second.

The win keeps the Bluebirds within two points of the final position of safety and also answered the suggestions that the squad is splintered.

When asked about his own personal feelings about Cardiff and Warnock, Hoilett said: "From day one the manager has been on my side. I give him 100% every time I am out there.

"I'm happy to be here – it's a great club and he's a great manager."

On talk of a divided squad, he added: "Ah, it's nonsense.

"Everybody is like brothers in there. You saw last season how we fought for each other. We have been like that all season as well. We are positive and everybody is fighting for each other."
