Bluebirds hit by Bamba blow

5th March 2019, 14:33 by Alex Jack

Cardiff City have been rocked by the news defender Sol Bamba will miss the rest of the season after he suffered knee ligament damage.

The former Leeds United centre-back suffered the injury during the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday.

Manager Neil Warnock has now confirmed the bad news regarding Bamba and says the player will go under the knife on Wednesday to resolve the serious knee injury.

"Unfortunately our biggest fears have been confirmed regarding the injury Sol suffered at Wolves on Saturday," he told the Premier League club's official website.

"Scans have shown that Sol has ruptured his ACL; he will have an operation on Wednesday and therefore miss the rest of the season. It is a major blow to the squad but I know all of our supporters will join me in wishing him the very best during his recovery."
