Bluebirds in swoop for Bacuna

31st January 2019, 13:35 by Craig Smithson

Reading's versatile defender Leandro Bacuna is reportedly on the verge of joining Cardiff for a fee rising to £3million.

The 27-year-old Dutchman, who can play at right-back and in midfield, has experience of playing in the Premier League after scoring six goals in 85 top-fight appearances for Aston Villa.

Bacuna moved to Reading in summer 2017 and has scored three goals in 26 Championship appearances so far this season.

Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock has made no secret of his desire to bring in a couple of defensive-minded reinforcements ahead of the Thursday night deadline and Bacuna appears to be close to filling one of those gaps in his squad.
