Cardiff starlet shows future promise
Cardiff City Under-23 assistant coach Andy Legg has hailed highly-rated 16-year-old Ryan Kavanagh after his youth team debut.
The midfielder played the full 90 minutes, his first appearance at Under-23 level for the Bluebirds, in 1-1 draw against Sheffield United on Monday.
The teenager is tipped to have a bright future and could be a potential first-team star if he continues to progress, with Legg admitting to being impressed with him against the Blades.
Legg told the club's website: "Kavanagh was exceptional in midfield, especially in the first half. I thought he was outstanding despite looking a bit tired as the game wore on.
"It’s a lot to ask for someone of his age and I hadn’t seen him play before this game, so I’m very pleased with his performance and the step up he’s made."
