Minute's silence at Euro games for Sala

12th February 2019, 12:02 by Neil Foster

There will be a minute's silence for Cardiff's Emiliano Sala at all this week's Champions League and Europa League matches.

The Argentinian died when the plane carrying him from Nantes to South Wales crashed in the English Channel on January 21 and his body was recovered on February 7.

Floral tributes have been paid outside Cardiff’s ground and manager Neil Warnock has spoken of just how tough it has been for the family and everyone involved with the club since the tragedy.

European football resumes this week as the Champions League takes centre stage on Tuesday and Wednesday before the knockout stage of Europe’s second-tier competition gets under way on Thursday.

And Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin said the South American will be honoured at every ground.

"I am deeply saddened his life was so cruelly taken away at such a young age," he said. "I urge supporters across the continent to pay their respects to his memory over the coming days."
