Alonso blow for Blues
Left-back Marcos Alonso has been ruled out of Chelsea's home Premier League clash with Brighton on Wednesday evening.
The Spain international completed the full 90 minutes in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Cardiff but the 28-year-old is suffering from a hamstring injury.
Manager Maurizio Sarri confirmed Alonso has a slight issue and will now be rested for the next three or four days, meaning he is likely to return for Monday's home match with West Ham United.
Frenchman N'Golo Kante and Belgian Eden Hazard are both expected to be recalled to the starting XI after starting on the bench last time out, while England international Callum Hudson-Odoi is set for his first league start of the campaign.
Sarri revealed in his press conference on Tuesday that the English youngster is now ready for first-team action after impressing in recent weeks and will start against Brighton or West Ham.
James Mason grew up in Northumberland so is entrenched in both the football and golf scenes. A low handicap golfer, he also follows Newcastle United and predicts big things under Rafa Benitez.
