Blues missing Pedro for Palace test
Chelsea will have to make do without the injured Pedro for the Premier League clash at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Spain international was forced off just before half-time in the 2-1 win at Watford on Boxing Day and manager Maurizio Sarri has confirmed the forward will be absent for around 10 days with a hamstring injury.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, who replaced Pedro at Vicarage Road, was subbed towards the end of that contest after picking up a knock and although the problem is not serious, he is unlikely to play.
France international Olivier Giroud, who has been linked with a January exit from Stamford Bridge, could be handed a start whilst midfielder Ross Barkley is also pushing for a starting opportunity.
Chelsea have not lost their final Premier League fixture of a calendar year when it has been away from home since 2002, when they were beaten 2-0 at Leeds United.
James Mason grew up in Northumberland so is entrenched in both the football and golf scenes. A low handicap golfer, he also follows Newcastle United and predicts big things under Rafa Benitez.
