Higuain unavailable to face Spurs
New Chelsea signing Gonzalo Higuain will not be available for the second-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie against Tottenham.
The Argentina international's long-protracted loan move to Stamford Bridge from Juventus was completed on Wednesday night, although the deal did not go through in time for him to be available for Thursday's contest.
Chelsea will head into that match trailing 1-0 from the first leg, with the winners of the tie knowing they will face Manchester City in next month's final at Wembley following their 10-0 aggregate success over Burton Albion.
Higuain's ineligibility means boss Maurizio Sarri must decide whether to continue with Eden Hazard as a false nine or recall Olivier Giroud to the starting line-up after his cameo appearance against Arsenal at the weekend.
Alavaro Morata is not expected to be involved as his loan move to Atletico Madrid edges ever closer, while midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is unlikely to feature due to an ongoing back problem.
Chelsea have lost their last three matches against Tottenham, including a 3-1 defeat when the two teams last met at Stamford Bridge back in April.
