Morata a doubt for Magpies clash

11th January 2019, 17:13 by Tom Hill

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri could be without forward Alvaro Morata for Saturday's meeting with Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus star was unable to play in midweek in the EFL Cup semi-final clash with Tottenham.

Morata missed the game due to a minor hamstring problem but he remains a doubt for the Premier League fixture.

Midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a confirmed absentee due to a back injury, while fellow midfielder Cesc Fabregas will be left out of the squad.

Fabregas waved goodbye to the club's fans last week ahead of his proposed move Ligue 1 side Monaco.

Despite the injury setbacks, Sarri's men will be confident of grabbing all three points as they look to make it seven wins in a row against the Magpies in all competitions.
