No budging on Bakayoko fee

16th April 2019, 16:39 by Jack Ogalbe

Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to back down on Tiemoue Bakayoko's asking price as AC Milan aim to make his loan permanent.

The Frenchman joined the Blues from Monaco in the summer of 2017 but failed to make much of an impact at Stamford Bridge and headed to Italy last August.

Bakayoko has rediscovered his form while at the Rossoneri, earning particular praise from coach Gennaro Gattuso, who has hailed his tactical improvement.

The midfielder's loan deal includes a 35m euro release clause and Milan are keen to bring him to Serie A permanently.

However, that could depend on whether they finish in the top four, with Champions League qualification providing extra breathing room within their financial fair play restrictions to bring in the 24-year-old.

Reports in Italy suggest Bakayoko is keen to come to an agreement that keeps him at the San Siro but Chelsea are unwilling to budge on his asking price and Milan's final spot in the standings could provide the key to his future.
