Dann edges towards full fitness
Scott Dann is edging towards a return to full fitness following the knee injury that has kept him sidelined since the turn of the year.
The 31-year-old picked up the injury during Palace’s goalless draw with Manchester City at the turn of the year and the problem subsequently forced him to miss the rest of the 2017-18 campaign.
However, Dann now appears to be edging towards a first-team return, as he has travelled with the rest of the Palace squad for their pre-season tour of Sweden, although he has been training separately as his rehabilitation continues.
That means the former Blackburn and Birmingham defender is unlikely to feature in the Eagles opening match of pre-season against Danish club Helsingor on Thursday, although it seems he is making good progress in his recovery.
The news is also positive for two of Palace's other long-term absentees, as Jason Puncheon and Connor Wickham both took a full part in training ahead of the Helsingor game.
Like Dann, Puncheon has been sidelined since picking up a knee injury in the New Year's Eve draw with City, while Wickham's absence has been even longer, as his last competitive game came way back in November 2016.
