Defoe reveals Palace interest
Crystal Palace forward Jermain Defoe has announced he rejected interest from Crystal Palace to join Rangers this month.
Defoe decided to end his stay at Bournemouth earlier this week, moving to Rangers on an 18-month loan deal.
He will now link up with former England team-mate Steven Gerrard and the former Tottenham man is confident he will deliver the goods for the Gers.
The 36-year-old was linked with Palace and he admits while the interest from the Eagles was flattering, he wants a change of scenery.
"There was interest, I had to weigh it all up, and I fancied something different to be honest, I fancied a different challenge," he told Sky Sports.
"It is a massive football club and I am coming into an environment where everyone is confident.
"The Palace one was lingering for years - I know a lot of people down there, (coach) Mark Bright, a lot of the players. It is obviously a fantastic football club, with a top manager (Roy Hodgson).
"But I spoke to Stevie and decided to come here, because it is a great opportunity for me."
