Eagles can cope without winger - Benteke
Christian Benteke has backed Crystal Palace to cope without winger Wilfried Zaha against West Ham.
The Eagles could be without Zaha when they welcome West Ham to Selhurst Park on Saturday after his actions in the draw with Southampton last week.
Zaha was sent off and subsequently charged with improper conduct by the FA after sarcastically applauding Andre Marriner.
He served his one-game ban in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Fulham but could face a further suspension if the FA decide to act further.
Benteke, who recently returned to action from injury, has called on his teammates to rise to the occasion if their star man is unavailable.
“It [his absence] puts us in the situation where we can’t just rely on width,” said Benteke.
“When he is not there we have to show ourselves. It is good for the future, it means we have got a second option when Wilf is not there. We have got a lot of experienced players. We can’t just blame each other because Wilf is not there.”
