Eagles outcast completes Troyes move

6th August 2019, 15:18 by Bobbie Jackson

French second division outfit Troyes have completed the signing of Crystal Palace defender Pape Souare.

The 29-year-old was unable to win back his place in the first XI at Selhurst Park after spending 11 months out following a car accident in September 2016.

He made just eight appearances across all competitions after returning to action in 2017-18 and will now have the opportunity to rebuild his career in France.

Troyes finished third in Ligue 2 in 2018-19 but failed to bounce back to the top flight at the first attempt after losing 2-1 to Lens in the play-off semi-finals.

Souare spent the majority of his career in France with Lille and Reims before signing for Palace in a £3.45million deal in January 2015.
