Hodgson shoots down Maja rumour
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has played down reports suggesting they are in for Sunderland striker Josh Maja.
Hodgson has been open about his desire to bring in further options in attack this month as they continue to struggle for goals.
Maja, who recently rejected the offer of a new contract at the Stadium of Light, has been linked with a switch to Selhurst Park over the last few days, while Huddersfield and Cardiff have also been suggested as potential suitors.
But Hodgson says he has never heard of 20-year-old Black Cats academy product Maja and insists it isn’t his job to scout potential targets.
Hodgson said: "I've never heard of him. I don't follow Sunderland and his name has not been mentioned to me.
"I'm not going to stand here and answer questions about individuals and names.
"The fact is it's not my job to scout players. I'm sure if you ask our scouting department and our head of scouting about Josh Maja, he would tell you chapter and verse about him.
"But no one has mentioned his name to me, I don't spend my time watching Sunderland play."
