Kick It Out call for Hennessy to be educated

17th April 2019, 14:13 by Bobbie Jackson

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey requires "appropriate education", according to Kick It Out.

Football's equality and inclusion organisation has spoken out following Hennessey's comments during the investigation into an alleged Nazi salute made at a team dinner.

Hennessey had his right arm in the air and left hand above his mouth on a picture posted to Instagram by German teammate Max Meyer.

The Football Association confirmed earlier this month that Hennessey would face no further action over the incident.

The regulatory commission published its written reasons for the decision on Tuesday, where Hennessey was found to have told them he didn't know what a Nazi salute was.

It said Hennessey showed a "lamentable degree of ignorance" about Adolf Hitler, fascism and the Nazi regime.

Kick It Out says the Wales international goalkeeper needs to be educated on the wider implications.

"If Wayne Hennessey doesn't know what a Nazi salute is, or understand its horrifying wider implications, then it's vital that he receives appropriate education as a consequence." Kick It Out posted to their official account.
