Kirby wins McPhillips praise
Crystal Palace youngster Nya Kirby has won the praise of Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips after working his way into his loan club's XI.
The 19-year-old England youth international midfielder joined the Seasiders in January, but has found game time hard to come by at Bloomfield Road.
However, after Kirby scored his first professional goal in just his second start for the club in the 2-2 draw against League One leaders Luton Town on April 6, he kept his place in the XI for last Saturday's 1-0 home reverse against play-off chasing Peterborough United.
The teenager recently said he hoped to be involved regularly between now and the end of the season with one eye on returning to Selhurst Park pushing for a place in Roy Hodgson's squad next summer.
And McPhillips appears to have strengthened Kirby's case with a glowing tribute of the player.
When asked about Kirby's abilities, McPhillips said: "That's what he's been doing in training and that's why he's been given the shirt, so it's no shock to us.
"The boys love him and he's got the respect of the dressing room. He's got some talent too and he's produced it here."
