Lyon enter race for Palace target

13th June 2018, 18:50 by Aidan Perkins

Lyon are reportedly ready to battle for Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker, who has also been linked with Crystal Palace.

The 23-year-old was initially targeted by the Eagles in January but a move failed to materialise and he ended the campaign with Anderlecht operating as a makeshift centre-back.

Reports say he's keen to leave this summer and Palace, along with London rivals West Ham, are keeping an eye on his situation ahead of a possible bid.

However, boss Roy Hodgson could face competition now from Lyon who are believed to be ready to make an offer for the Belgium international, who is busy preparing for his country's World Cup campaign.

It's unlikely there will be any resolution on Dendoncker's future until after Belgium's involvement in the tournament in Russia has ended with interested clubs expected to have to fork out in the region of £20million for a player who is under contract at Anderlecht until 2021.
