Southgate yet to ask about defender - Hodgson
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says he is yet to be approached by England manager Gareth Southgate about Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The 21-year-old was understood to be edging for a loan move away from Palace last season after struggling to force his way into the senior team.
But, he was eventually handed his Premier League debut in the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham and went on to start a further six games.
He has been a regular for the Eagles this term, starting 25 times in the league, and his performances have prompted talk he is ready to win his first full England cap.
Wan-Bissaka already boasts two caps for the Under-21s but it doesn’t look like he is being considered ahead of the March internationals.
Hodgson insists he is ready to tell Southgate about the youngster but admits the England boss is yet to make enquire.
"I’ll tell him what I think of the player. I’ll give him my honest opinion because it’s something he deserves to hear," said Hodgson.
"At the moment he [Southgate] hasn’t done that. We’ve quite often talked about the English players that we have, and it has been on general terms. I’ll wait for that moment when the day comes and he actually says ‘right, I really want your serious opinion about Bissaka and how good he can possibly be at full senior international level’, and I’ll tell him what I think."
