Toon star linked with Eagles
Crystal Palace are being linked with a summer swoop for Newcastle Unite midfielder Mohamed Diame.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson is looking to bolster his ranks in the summer and Diame, who has vast Premier League experience, has emerged as a target.
The 31-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season but, if the player makes a further three Premier League appearances, he will automatically trigger a 12-month extension at St James' Park.
Diame says he is happy at Newcastle and would prefer a new two-year deal with the Magpies but the club's current reluctance could see the ex-Senegal international decide to move on to pastures new, with the Eagles keeping tabs on the situation.
“They know I want to stay,” he said last week. “I am happy at Newcastle. It was tough at the beginning but I settled down. But if I have to go, then I will go, it is no problem.”
Premier League rivals Brighton are also thought to be monitoring the situation at St James' Park, along with Turkish outfits Besiktas and Galatasaray.
