Bernard - 'The future is bright'

3rd April 2019, 18:45 by Tom Hill

Everton playmaker Bernard believes his side have a bright future and have helped him develop into a better player this year.

The Blues are still in the hunt for seventh place following back-to-back wins in the Premier League under Marco Silva.

Silva's troops are four points behind seventh-placed Wolves but Brazilian Bernard is expecting further improvement.

He scored during last week's 2-0 win over West Ham United and the winger has shown plenty of promise during his debut season in England.

Bernard and co will be looking to continue their run when they host Arsenal on Sunday, with the former Shakhtar Donetsk man excited by his club's potential.

"It's easier to perform to your best when you have a lot of quality in the team," he told the club's official website.

"If you just look at our midfield, Gylfi [Sigurdsson], Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gana Gueye were excellent against West Ham. They are all playing very well, as are the forwards and the defence has been very solid, too.

"The future is bright because there is a lot of quality and the players now know each other better. We want to finish the season strongly."
