Everton
Silva identifies problem position
Marco Silva admits it is paramount for Everton to sign a new right-back before the end of the summer window.
The Toffees recently allowed Jonjoe Kenny to go out on loan to Bundesliga side Schalke, in a move that may prove fruitful for the Englishman but has left Silva short of options.
Vice-captain Seamus Coleman is the only senior right-back at the club, and while Mason Holgate could deputise, a lack of options in central defence may see him called into action in the middle.
The transfer window shuts on August 8 and the Everton boss has conceded the club simply have to sign another body who can feature on the right of defence.
Silva told the Liverpool Echo: "In this moment, and since Jonjoe went on loan to Schalke, it has been a position we want to strengthen. You cannot go through a tough competition like the Premier League with just Seamus Coleman.
"We are really, really happy with Seamus, he finished last season on a very good level but, of course, we have to sign a right-back also."
