Timely win provides Silva boost
Everton boss Marco Silva side Tuesday's win at Cardiff provided his side with timely boost ahead of the Merseyside derby.
The Toffees swept away the Bluebirds as a brace from Gylfi Sigurdsson and a late strike from Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw them record a comfortable 3-0 win to end a run of three straight defeats.
Silva and his side will now turn their focus to the weekend when they welcome local rivals Liverpool to Goodison Park.
A late error by Jordan Pickford cost Everton a point at Anfield in December and ahead of the game against the league leaders, Silva admits Tuesday's victory came as a timely boost.
"We were clinical and that is something we need," he said. "The last game [against Watford] was a good example - we have had two shots that hit the bar and more chances to score. It is important when we have the chances but that we can score, too.
"[Confidence] is something we are missing, to [help us] be more consistent as a team and not go up and down every time. We achieved this in one moment of the season from the beginning until December.
"I hope the Cardiff result can give us the boost we need and everything we want is to achieve a good result again on Sunday."
