Cahill deal not off the table to Ranieri
Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri remains coy on the prospect of Chelsea defender Gary Cahill joining before the transfer window shuts.
Ranieri has spent a large chunk of the January transfer window trying to improve his defensive options but without much success, forward Ryan Babel the only new arrival at Craven Cottage so far this month.
Out-of-favour defender Cahill has long been linked with a switch across west London to Fulham but is understood to have reservations about joining a club currently deep in relegation trouble.
Arsenal are also understood to be monitoring the 33-year-old's situation at Stamford Bridge amid their ongoing defensive injury crisis.
Ranieri says the Cottagers, who spent heavily last summer, are working hard to recruit reinforcements and isn't ruling out Cahill arriving before Thursday's deadline day.
"I don't know if Cahill is on our list, of course we have an alternative and I'm sure the club will try to do the best for the team," said the 67-year-old.
"We are looking, if there will be some good opportunities we are ready."
