Cottagers midfielder sits out City test

14th September 2018, 11:05 by Gareth Freeman

Fulham will be without midfielder Tom Cairney for Saturday's trip to Manchester City due to a foot injury.

Cairney has missed the last three games with the problem and the trip to the champions has come too soon for the 27-year-old.

Fellow midfielder Neeskens Kebano also misses out with an ankle problem, while defender Tim Ream remains absent with a thigh problem and is yet to feature for the Cottagers this season.

Boss Slavisa Jokanovic expects the clash at the Etihad Stadium to be "one of the most difficult games" for his side this term but insists they can get a result.

Fulham saw a 2-0 lead slip away in their last match against Brighton as they had to settle for a point and Jokanovic has called on his players to maintain their focus against City.

He said: "I am not focused on individual mistakes and I am not surprised that at the beginning of the Premier League we have made mistakes, but this team is new.

"Some of these players need to know each other and have some kind of understanding of the family way of working with the team.

"Individual mistakes exist and I don’t believe we will completely avoid them. In football mistakes exist, but I really care about our quantity of mistakes."
