Parker 'involved' in Fulham transfer plans

28th March 2019, 15:30 by Chris Rivers

Caretaker boss Scott Parker says he is part of Fulham's planning for next season but is unsure if he'll remain as manager.

The former Cottagers midfielder is the third different man to take the helm this season, being handed the reins on an interim basis following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri in February.

Although the west London outfit have lost all three matches since Parker's appointment, he has received the backing of several of his players, Denis Odoi the most recent member of the squad to publically support the 38-year-old's candidacy.

Parker says he's in the dark when it comes to the decision on whether he will get the position permanently but has been involved in discussions over the plans for next season, including potential transfer targets.

"My main focus at the moment is each game as it comes," said Parker, whose team take on Manchester City on Saturday. "The only thing I can do is give a good impression, leave a mark.

"I'm treating this role as a long-term role, I was at this football club for a long time as a player and obviously coming back, I believe in what I'm doing and trying to create.

"There's been conversations [about next season]. Clubs are planning now for pre-season. Signings, whatever that may be, I'm involved in those conversations. We'll see where that goes.

"The lads have been fantastic. They've been very receptive to the ideas and the way we've tried to do things. We'll fight and drive as well as we can to finish the season as strongly as possible."
