Parker urges big win from Fulham

15th March 2019, 17:49 by Daniel McCarthy

Interim Fulham manager Scott Parker says a win against Liverpool on Sunday could “kick start” their slim survival hopes.

The Cottagers are currently 13 points adrift of safety with only eight games left in the Premier League with their chances of staying up in the division for the first time since 2013 looking very slim.

Things do not get easier as they come up against the mighty task of Liverpool on Sunday, fresh from their superb 3-1 away victory at Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Defensive frailties have cost Fulham this season as they have conceded 68 goals in 30 games so far.

Parker admits there is little chance of survival but says he and the squad must still believe there is something worth fighting for.

"There's only so many more weeks I can go on saying I believe we can stay up, but one result can kick-start something and we have the quality to try and do that," Parker said.

"When you look at how many games we need to win I understand it will be very difficult but while there's still points it's possible.

"We have some very good footballers and we need to start getting the best out of them. The attitudes and standards are rising on a daily basis. They have a chance at the weekend to prove how good they are."
