Ranieri urges Sessegnon to get nasty
Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri says it will be beneficial to Ryan Sessegnon if he develops a nastier side to his game.
England Under-21 international Sessegnon was an integral part of the Fulham side that tasted victory in the Championship play-off final last season, prompting talk of a surprise inclusion in England's 2018 World Cup squad although that didn't happen.
The 18-year-old winger, who has also been deployed at left-back, has struggled this campaign and has netted just twice in 22 Premier League appearances.
Sessegnon is said to be stalling over signing a new contract with the relegation-haunted Cottagers amid rumours he is looking to leave Craven Cottage in the summer for a bigger club in the top flight.
Ignoring the contract situation, Ranieri says his focus is on improving the Roehampton-born star and the Italian wants to see a "nastier" side from the youngster.
"Sessegnon is a good boy," he said at a press conference. "I want him to be a little nastier. He's young and he learns very quickly."
James Mason grew up in Northumberland so is entrenched in both the football and golf scenes. A low handicap golfer, he also follows Newcastle United and predicts big things under Rafa Benitez.
