Siewert changes skipper as Smith loses armband
Jan Siewert has demoted Tommy Smith and instead named Christopher Schindler Town's captain until the end of the season.
Smith will miss the Terriers' next match against Bournemouth because he is serving the final game of a three-game suspension which he picked up for a foul on Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron.
Vice-captain Hogg has been ruled out for an indefinite period, meaning Schindler picks up the armband in the short term but Siewert has declared the German will continue in the role for the rest of the campaign.
“We are still fighting," said Siewert on Thursday.
"We look at each game for a performance. We won at home last time and it was a big boost for us.
"It was good to taste a win [against Wolves] and we are looking forward. First of all Tommy was suspended for three games. This is no reflection on Tommy; he’s a great guy.
“We need leaders on the pitch. Christopher Schindler will remain our captain for the rest of the season. He has leadership quality and performs well."
