Wagner wants more as Puncheon talks drag on

3rd January 2019, 17:38 by Simon Barlow

David Wagner says the Terriers need Jason Puncheon's experience and leadership as talks over his move from Crystal Palace drag on.

Town are now expected to complete the signing of the 32-year-old, who is looking for a club where he can get regular first-team football, on Friday.

And Wagner believes the wideman is the sort of experienced professional who will prove valuable to Town in the second half of the Premier League season.

"He is an experienced pro, a leader, a player who is calm on the ball and who can give experience to this group, which we need," said Wagner after his side went down 2-1 to Burnley on Wednesday.

"He has shown he can score goals as well and, in the end, we are short on numbers.

"Now, we have to make sure we bring in one or more players if possible and if we are able to bring him in, I think he will add something to our group."
