Winkler links up with Terriers
Huddersfield have confirmed Andreas Winkler as their new assistant coach to work alongside manager Jan Siewert.
Siewert was only confirmed as the Terriers boss earlier this week, but he has wasted no time in reshaping his backroom team, with fellow German Winkler arriving at the club following a spell as an assistant to Daniel Stendel at League One club Barnsley.
Winkler previously worked with Siewert during the latter's spell in charge of German club Rot-Weiss Essen.
Indeed, the 49-year-old spent 14 years in Essen, initially working as the head of the club’s academy before becoming their director of football.
Winkler also enjoyed a successful playing career in the German lower leagues after initially coming through the ranks at Bayern Munich.
He will now link-up with Huddersfield during their ongoing four-day training camp in Portugal.
The Terriers are not in action this weekend as they have already been eliminated from the FA Cup, with their next fixture coming when they welcome Everton to the John Smith's Stadium in the Premier League on Tuesday.
