Diabate leaves Foxes on loan

10th January 2019, 10:50 by Tom McGarry

Leicester winger Fousseni Diabate has joined Turkish outfit Sivasspor on loan for the rest of the season.

The Mali youth international originally joined the Foxes from Gazelec Ajaccio in January last year and he impressed on his debut, scoring a brace in a 5-1 rout against Peterborough in the FA Cup.

However, the 23-year-old has not scored since then and he has only featured once in the Premier League so far this season, playing 55 minutes of Leicester's 1-1 draw with Fulham at the start of December.

That lack of minutes appears to have contributed to Diabate's decision to move out on loan and he will now spend the rest of the season with Sivasspor, who currently sit ninth in the Turkish Super Lig standings.

Diabate could make his Sivasspor debut against Alanyaspor on January 19 and he will be hoping to impress during his time in Turkey, with a long-term place in Leicester's first-team remaining his goal.
