Foxes poised to agree Tielemans-Silva swap

30th January 2019, 12:53 by Aidan Perkins

Leicester are closing in on a deal to sign Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans with Adrien Silva set to go in the opposite direction.

Widespread reports say the Foxes are now leading the chase to sign the Belgium international before Thursday's transfer deadline and he could join initially on loan, with Silva joining Monaco, also on loan, in a straight swap.

Silva has struggled for action under boss Claude Puel this season but has worked with recently re-appointed Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim previously at Sporting Lisbon so is tipped to head to France to make way for the highly-rated Tielemans.

It is thought all parties have held talks about a loan swap, which could then turn into permanent moves for both players in the summer if they do well in what's left of the Premier League and Ligue 1 campaigns.

Tielemans, who has also been a target for Tottenham this month, is expected to be in the UK for more talks and the Foxes will hope to complete a deal before Thursday's 11pm deadline.

The 21-year-old has impressed for Monaco this season with five goals and one assist in all competitions.
