Gray reveals details of Rodgers chat

28th February 2019, 18:13 by Aidan Perkins

Demarai Gray revealed new boss Brendan Rodgers has vowed to "improve" the Leicester players and said his appointment is "promising".

Rodgers was installed as the new Foxes boss earlier in the week after Claude Puel was sacked by the King Power hierarchy.

The former Liverpool manager enjoyed unprecedented success in his last job as Celtic manager, guiding them to the 'double treble' in the past two years and Gray has welcomed his arrival.

The winger, who scored the first goal in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Brighton with Rodgers watching on from the stands, revealed what the Northern Irishman had said to the players on taking the job.

Gray told LCTV: "He’s an ambitious manager and his ideas that he’s going to bring into the team and the club are good. He’s introduced himself briefly and he’s said he’s going to improve us, make our football even better than it is and it’s promising for all the lads."

Gray's goal was his fourth of the season and he admits he was pleased to add to his tally as he eyes continued progress with the Foxes.

He added: "That was my fourth and for me it’s just about getting a run and a few goals on the bounce. I don’t set targets or anything, I just take each game as it comes and, most importantly, keep working on the pitch and running off the ball."
